Kalok Chan is Professor of Finance at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). He is currently the Deputy Head of Finance Department and the Associate Director of the Center of Asian Financial Markets. His current research interests include liquidity and trading costs, trading strategies, and emerging stock markets. His articles appear regularly in premier finance journals, such as the Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, and Review of Financial Studies. He has reviewed papers for more than thirty international journals, and is a co-editor of the Pacific-Basin Finance Journal. Professor Chan has done executive education for Hong Kong Monetary Authority, Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, and CFA review course. He has also been a consultant to HSBC and Department of Justice of Hong Kong SAR.
Professor Chan earned a Ph.D. in
Finance from the Ohio State University in 1990. He first taught at
Arizona State University from 1990 to 1997 and has been teaching at HKUST
since 1996. He was a visiting Professor at National University of
Singapore in July-August of both 2001 and 2002. Professor Chan served
as the the Director of MPhil/PhD Programme in the School of Business and
Management at HKUST from 1996-2001.
