Background

I come from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. Presently, I am a Professor of Information Systems and Head of the Department of Information Systems, Business Statistics and Operations Management (ISOM), School of Business and Management, at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. I received my Ph.D in Information Systems, a M.Sc. in Information Systems (research degree), and a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Computer Science from the Department of Information Systems, School of Computing, at the National University of Singapore. Before pursuing graduate studies, I was with the technological planning department of DBS Bank, a major local bank in Singapore.

I utilize survey and experiment methodologies in my research. My research on technology adoption, human-computer interaction, computer ethics, and IT in small business has appeared or is forthcoming in various IS, HCI, OR, Information Science, and Telecommunications journals including Information Systems Research, Journal of Management Information Systems, MIS Quarterly, Journal of the AIS, Decision Support Systems, European Journal of Information Systems, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Information & Management, Information Systems Frontiers, Information Systems Journal, International Journal of Human-Computer Studies, Journal of the American Society for Information Science and Technology, Journal of Information Technology, Journal of Organizational Computing and Electronic Commerce, Information Processing & Management, European Journal of Operational Research, Journal of Operations Management, OMEGA, Telecommunications Policy, INFO, IEEE Communications, and Communications of the ACM.

My research has also appeared in various refereed conference proceedings including International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS), Hawaii International Conference on Systems Sciences (HICSS), International Federation of Information Processing (IFIP) WG8.6, European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS), and ACM SIGCPR. I am a reviewer for Information Systems Research, Journal of Management Information Systems, MIS Quarterly, and Management Science, among others.

In 2012, I am serving as Doctoral Consortium Co-Chair for PACIS2012 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
