OSTEI is supported by a database server(Sybase 11) as well as a World Wide Web server(Apache1.2). Connected by Sybperl, each of the server plays an essential role in the system. Sybase 11 is responsible for data organization and storage. Apache 1.2, on the other hand, facilitates the interaction between the system and its users. Using a standard Internet browser, users can access OSTEI from any computer connected to the Internet.
