OSTEI is the product of a joint university (HKUST, HKU, HKPU) effort to develop and implement a web-based system to allow instructors of local HEIs to conduct formative teaching evaluation on the Web.  It is part of a sub-project of the UGC funded project - 'ESEP implementation' .  Title of the project is 'Implementation of a system for on-line evaluation of teaching'.

The project aims to develop two web-based systems, OSTEI and COSSET.  OSTEI allows instructors to create their own questionnaires, administer them through the Web, and view the results on the Web.  COSSET is a centrally controlled system designed for the collection and processing of data for summative evaluation of teaching.

OSTEI is designed and developed using the latest Web technology.  Instructors from any local HEIs can use the system for their teaching evaluation.  The system allows instructors to write their own questions or pick questions from a question bank within the system.  After the questionnaire is created, the instructor can ask his/her students to respond to the questionnaire through the Web.  Results of the student feedback can then be viewed on the Web.  Instructors can also re-use the questionnaires they have created.
